New Penang Bridge Traffic Dispersion System

The DAP government had failed again.

The implementation failure of the new Penang Bridge Traffic dispersion system shows that the present DAP government do not analyse problem(s) in depth.

It is also surprising that no one advise LGE that his suggestion to have traffic policemen and other staff manning the flow of vehicles coming from more than 10 toll booths into the 2 lanes bridge will definitely failed.

LGE's idea worsen the situation - he was suggesting the creation of a new bottleneck immediately after the toll booths.

The previous BN and this DAP government both failed to understand the problem. Both failed to understand bottlenecks and the principle to solve them.

The design of the second bridge reflect this lack of understanding too!

They should read a novel by Eliyahu M. Goldratt, & Jeff Cox titled The Goal: A Process of Ongoing Improvement, easier than reading a Management Science or Operation Research book.

I think we should give them some space to breath. I believe they have done fairly better than the last party.

Here's my take on who did what:

Previous BN gov:
1) Poor original design of so many toll booths which leads to a bottle neck so near to it.
2) No-brainer construction of even more toll booths just before the bottleneck
3) Changing of cables which is taking forever when the cables should last much much longer in the first place.
4) Adding 3rd lane only after construction of more toll booths.
5) Cost of all the above errors are in millions of ringgit

DAP gov:
1) Have to make the best out of all the s@#T above by trying new traffic system.
2) Pushing for second bridge which fed gov almost scrapped out of spite.
3) Cost of experiment with new system: a few policemen and staff manning the traffic flow.

So looking at the above reasoning, the previous BN gov is the one to be blamed. Quit whining and start contributing by using your influence (if Gerakan still has any) to make sure the fed gov doesn't delay the construction of the second bridge any longer.

Good results to be claimed by DAP/ new govt.

In case of any failure of any project, the previous BN govt to be blamed.

This is not fair!

Sorry, I cannot accept such mentality.

New govt should look at ways of improvement, not ways of pushing or pointing.

Sit down with professionals, analyse methodically and identify the constituent of failure.

There are rooms for advancement.

Same argument can be apply many years ago for the traffic light that was put up at the Batu Gantong Race Course. It was taken down after 2 weeks of experiment. Doesn't it sounds familiar with what you have written ?

I only hear of negative comment (or should I say the politics of the 1970s) but no solution from you too.

Anyway, in any project or process implementation, you must allow time for the people to get used to the system and also the process. The fair judgement can only be made after several weeks of trial run and not only after < 1 week.

I am very eager to know what are the solutions you or your party can offer here for the benefit of Penangites insted of playing the negative politics.

Anon above:

In my post above, I suggest reading a particular book, it is not sarcism or negative comment without any constructive statement.

Read the book completely and understand the principles.
