The Three Bounced Checks

Penang Gerakan Youth chief, Sdra Oh Tong Keong said that DAP Penang under Lim Guan Eng had written 3 bounced checks.

Bounced Check No 1: Failure to hold local government elections in Penang.

Bounced check No 2: Failure to abolish weekend parking fees.

Bounced Check No 3: Failure to implement declaration of properties & assets of the Chief Minister and Excos (should also include Chief-of-staff and Pol. Sec).

If, Bank Negara is the regulator of Malaysian politicians, Lim Guan Eng would had his account closed.

P.S. LGE & DAP Penang had bounced more that 3 checks.

Hey Bro,

I think No.1 requires a federal amendment.
But No.2.....No excuse?
No.3, still haven't? Whussup? Last I heard from Anil, they needed some special forms from the Fed Govt??

Did Gerakan declare them?

Jed:

On No 1. If LGE really intend to do it, he can F the Fed Govt and hold the local govt election without SPR help.

With so many lawyers in PR, there are ways to go around it.

On No 3. Anil discussed some months ago. No action. LGE is a qualified accountant, he should made his own forms instead of procrastinating or .... Set example for other PR states.

Gerakan have a comprehensive declaration that needs to be completed for candidacy consideration including councillorship. Searches are also made. Maybe, LGE can ask Dr Teng to help (hah...hah...hah)

From: Suaram blog (http://suarampg.blogspot.com/2009/03/suaram-urge-state-government-to.html)

..............SUARAM was hoping that the PR government would increase, not reduce, the participation of local, independent people and would implement a transparent system of appointment of councillors (until we get local elections again).

However, not only has this opportunity been missed, but spokespeople like Chow Kon Yeow repeats the words of the BN government: that now thePR government is elected, it has the mandate to do as it likes.

This is very worrying. SUARAM would like to emphasize that if democracy is to mean anything, it must mean as full and transparent a participation by people as possible in decision-making processes. By keeping such decisions within a very narrow group of appointed party members, woefully lacking in accountability or transparency, the PR government has refused to acknowledge their own mantra: Time for a Change.

There has been no change, despite the promises.

There are plenty of formulas available which would progress the composition of local councils. The 8-8-8 widely debated last year (meaning 8 NGO representatives (inc. from resident associations and community leaders), 8 independent professional representatives and 8 from party partisan backgrounds) would have been a step forward. But it apparently was not even considered this year.

Given the PR government’s unwillingness to open up local government, SUARAM is also wondering about the sincerity of the PR government in promising to restore local elections.

What is the timeline and where is the discussion?

..........back to Square One.

The cheques are not bounced if it is a post-dated cheque and the date has not yet arrived. Who said the time frame is one year? Give them a term to see if they can achieve the promises.

Look at your arguments HKL. On one hand you ask LGE to be nice and work with the fed gov but on the other you ask him to F them. Where's the consistency?

You may claim Gerakan practise this and that but no one has seen them. Declaring to yourself is not called transparency, it's called self righteousness.

I check yours, you check mine. I close one eye, you close one eye. Both happily makan duit.
