The Jelutong Promenade is a wonderful gift from IJM Properties to people of Penang.
Visited the Jelutong Sea Promenade this evening. It was a beautiful place. Much more beautiful than Gurney Drive and with even more potential for further beautification.
Kids riding tricycles, bicycles or scooter; teenagers or adults flying or fighting kites, anglers relaxing while waiting for the bites; couples soaking in the atmosphere of the evening, friends immersed in their conversations; hundreds of migrant workers working in nearby factories gaily playing their own games or just lazing around, or like most visitors just taking a stroll along the promenade.
P.S. There is currently a need to manage the many motorbikes that should not be on the promenade, and eventually the control of hawkers, parking touts, activating the traffic lights, and the promenade general cleanliness.
To get to the Jelutong Sea Promenade go straight instead of turning right into Jelutong Expressway, if you enter through Jelutong main road and Sg. Pinang Road junction.

Urban park by the sea

THERE's a new recreational spot on the island's eastern coast Penangites can now heaad for the 3.6km pedestrian promenade by the Jelutong Expressway (JE) for their morning jogs, evening strolls or just to enjoy the scenic view.
Touted as Penang’s longest, the landscaped promenade which is now open to the public, runs parallel to part of the JE stretch from Jalan Sungai Pinang to Penang Bridge and is built on reclaimed land.
Designed as a seafront urban park at a cost of about RM7mil, the promenade at Bandar Sri Pi-nang overlooks the Butterworth port and Penang Bridge.
The 3.6km long promenade, which overlooks the Butterworth port and Penang Bridge.
The 10m wide promenade along Lebuh Sungai Pinang was constructed by Jelutong Development Sdn Bhd – a subsidiary of IJM Properties Sdn Bhd.
The promenade area features a central deck, pedestrian-cyclist pathway, shady trees, hibiscus shrubs and car park.
The promenade where Penangites can go for their morning jog and evening strolls.
At the central deck, the main attractions are the “Celebration of Our Blue Sky”, comprising four 25m high blue posts and another sculpture called the “Rhythm of Light”.
The promenade together with the sculptures were officially presented to the state government on Thursday.....

I know there is local, state and federal. But funding for tourism comes from federal. Now that your tourism minister has cut Penang dry, how to fund these projects?
Since it is a gerakan member who is jumping up and down to have this parking bay, he should be responsible enough to approach his minister Azalina and ask her dept to fund it with Penang people tax money. Its not her money, like Raja Petra said 90% of tax is paid by non-malays but they only get 10% back. This is unfair.
Is Tan Wei Ren right that IJM properties is owned by Dato Rashid and he was given 15 million to create this park and it only costed 2 million? Somebody please clarify?

I also apologised for my comments which u said it was racist. I apologised if it was deemed like that and asked you a question which you still havent answered.
I am not anti Gerakan as such. In fact all DAP is trying to do is be like Gerakan in the 70s & 80s under Lim Chong Eu. However you much also accept Gerakan is no longer the same at least for the last 18 years despite strong support from the non-malays. In fact without Gerakan and MCA, UMNO would have been out of power in 1999! But still UMNO showed complete disrespect to Gerakan and MCA. There were times when Gerakan leaders opposed certain racist comments by UMNO, they were quitened down by own Gerakan leaders. Example when UMNO Tanjung shower kurang ajar attitude towards KTK, they should have been sacked (they would have been if they were Gerakan members), instead Khairy turned it into a racist thing and said KTK abandoned Malays, although UMNO was busy making money and not bothered abt their own race's welfare.
My question is simple. Why are you supporting Gerakan which is a partner of UMNO, a party which had a leader (Najib) that once wanted to soak his keris in Chinese blood? It upsets me to think that a top leader can utter such words and still be supported by so called multiracial parties like Gerakan. Khairy another top youth leader said Chinese people will use opportunity to take advantage if malays are weak. These are top most racist comments to name a few.

Under KTK Chinese schools didnt get land, in fact some of them got destroyed by MPSP.
Under KTK Penang going backwards, all big companies were leaving Penang including Motorala which KTK tried giving them money to stay-so corrupted.
Under KTK so many indian temples were destroyed and hence HINDRAF
Under KTK NEP who applied everywhere, chinese people had no equal opportunities

We are happy man, the small boys or fries like us who decide whether Gerakan stays or leaves are happy.

LGE is paid to run the govt and he is running the govt until the many western countries want to emulate him. Penang apparently is now in the last 3 months the most well run state in asia.
Who else can bring billions of investment, abolish NEP, secure many chinese schools, give land to the poor, improve transport system, encourage companies to employ locals who no job, cleaning the state to look good, and PDC is making money after making loss under KTK.
