The Penang City Council free parking pass was originally meant for MPPP President and directors, municipal councillors, and ADUNs. A small quantity of passes are issued to reporters that are assigned to cover the weekly MPPP meeting and activities. Usually, a news organisation will received 2 free MPPP parking passes for those reporters.
Under the DAP government, it had intentionally issued out a lot of Free Parking Passes to reporters including those that are not assigned to cover MPPP meeting and activities.
Why?
Is this the CAT (competency, accountability and transparency) way of currying bias reporting in favour of the DAP? It is crossing the acceptable boundary of giving gifts and goodies.
I do not fault the reporters. I hope those reporters are smarter, it is free-lah, never mind-lah, take-lah, but please provide unbiased reports-lah.
Can the DAP leaders shed some light of this using their CAT principle?
Aiyah, if you want to curry favour, do it the right way. My suggestion are to give free parking passes to the following:
- The official vehicle of Red Crescent, St. John Ambulance, Rescue 999, etc
- The official vehicles of Penang Spastic, Salvation Army, Cheshire Home, St. Nicholas, St. Joseph Home, Tsu Zhi and many other charitable organizations.
- The official vehicles of counselling organization such as Befrienders, Community AIDS Service, Child Protection Society, etc
- The official vehicles of environmental organizations such MNS, SAM, etc
- The official vehicles of human rights organizations such as Aliran, SOS, etc
- Any many others

Why is Gerakan so scared that more reporters are entering MPPP and MPSP ?
I tell you why! Under Gerakan only thestar and utusan melayu (racist UMNO paper) was allowed to enter and report. If they reported the truth on corruption, they will lose their pass! This is what happened to Teoh Yan Keong, The Sun reporter who reported of Gerakan led corruption as early as 2007!
Now LGE has instructed all newspapers registered with govt to cover MPSP and MPPP! This is for transparency, and this makes Gerakan so scared that more corruption will be reported in press! Until UMNO has instructed Khoon Leng to write this in hig blog.
This is so clear that Gerakan is scared of reporters, other than Utusan Melayu, the only paper that writes nice things abt them recently. Thats why Dato Rhina Bhar said recently "Gerakan and UMNO had done a lot of back deals in MPSP, DAP do something before it becomes a normality"
Why should Khoon Leng and Gerakan want only 2 paper reporters! Please learn something, and stop deleting people's comment, Gerakan is so undemoncratic. Thats why I left Gerakan!
You are afraid of the TRUTH.
To fight this truth you concoct LIES.
But, I must said you have an extremely powerful hallucination. Can I have your h/p number? I would like to recommend you to write a fiction novel, with your skills, it would sell a lot of units.
OK?
My name is Siva, and I am a penangite working in KL. I always vote for BN, but this election to Keadilan for some changes.
But what I want to know is why Gerakan so scared of LGE opening for all reporters? What has Gerakan got to hide?
Newspapers says a lot of land in Penang has been stolen by UMNO and Gerakan, is this why Gerakan dont want reporters other than Utusan Melayu? Invite all papers la, whats wrong with LGE suggestion?
All newspapers were welcome to report in the previous government. All were issued passes not just Star & Utusan. Don't be a liar.
My main question is why did the DAP led government thru MPPP issued so many free parking passes to reporters that do not cover MPPP meeting and activities?
It is difficult to answer this question satisfactory, isn't it?
I visited The Sun Penang office at about 2.15 pm, today.
Confirmed with Mr. Himanshu Bhatt, the bureau chief for Penang that The Sun do not have a reporter by the name of Teoh Yan Keong(see the very first comment on this post).
Penang Sun Office telephone number is 04-227 7598
These Pakatan Rakyat supporters can keep on manufacturing lies, I will kept on exposing the truth.
FYI, last year BEFORE the elections the council is already issuing free parking tickets to reporters as long as their newspaper companies register with the council so some company register two names, some register more. It depends on which reporters the media companies want to register with the council. ALL who registered gets the stickers. NOT ONLY TWO per paper as you assumed. Similarly, this time, the media companies need only register to get their sticker. So, being smarter, they now register more reporters.
Please get your facts right before politicising this whole thing.
A reporter:
You are a bit correct, for example The Star had more than two, but, it is a big news organisation and had more reporters assigned for the MPPP coverage. However, the standard was for two per news organisation, this was under the previous administration.
Of course, the news organisation can apply for more if they had assigned more than 2 for covering the MPPP meeting and activities.
Please read my post carefully, I wrote "usually" two free passes, I did not said exactly 'two" free passes.
I also wrote that reporters which WAS NOT ASSIGNED to cover MPPP meeting and activities also received the passes.
My source for this abuse of the free passes system was from your fellow reporter and I did some verification with some ex-councillors.
I had got my fact right, did you got yours?
If you want to give credence to what you said why not comment with your full name and name of your news organisation.
