Persatuan Bunga Melaka

It seems that the controversy surrounding the Pertubuhan Bunga Tanjung is still a hot topic in the Chinese presses.

It was sheer ignorant or arrogant that caused this problem. The ex-BN politicians wives in Penang and Selangor take for granted that BN will be in power forever. Perak ex-BN politician wives were much smarter and had amended their constitution earlier, hence avoiding any controversy.

This is a lesson for all current YBs spouses.

A friend of mine said, "Ayoh, Lim Guan Eng kah Jeff Ooi, char boh a looi pun ai!". Loosely translated in English it means "What, Lim Guan Eng and Jeff Ooi, ladies money also they want!" or in Malay, "Ayoh, Lim Guan Eng dan Jeff Ooi, perempuan punya duit pun mau!"

I do not really agreed with my friend, but he has his point. I think it is a male chauvinistic statement.

The Pakatan Rakyat YBs wives should form their own charity association. Fund-raising RM590,665 is no big deal for the government of the day, one or two charity food fairs should do it. Let Pertubuhan Bunga Tanjung do whatever charitable donations or activities they want with the money they had raised. They are not misusing the money for non-charitable donation or activities.

I would like to take this opportunity to propose to Lim Guan Eng's wife, who is currently an ADUN in Melaka that the name of the Penang Pakatan Rakyat YBs wife association be called Persatuan Bunga Melaka. If the male spouses of the Penang YBs(BN + PR) want to form their own association, I suggest Persatuan Pisang Emas or Persatuan Pisang Raja or Persatuan Pisang Tanduk (Sorrylah, mau kacau-kacau sikit).

Sdra Dr. Koh Tsu Koon's wife, Puan Sri Chui Kah Peng had challenged Lim Guan Eng & Jeff Ooi to a debate. Puan Sri Chui, if you are reading this blog, please invite me to the debate. It should be exciting. I hope that LGE & Jeff Ooi would not chickened out.

Bunga Tanjung dissolved, funds donated
By ANDREA FILMER

PENANG: Persatuan Bunga Tanjung, the state organisation for wives of Barisan Nasional assemblyman and MPs, has been dissolved and the remaining funds, amounting to RM590,665, donated to charity organisations and Bakti.

The organisations which received the money were the Bureau of Learning Difficulties, Penang Cheshire Home, Penang Mental Health Association and Mount Miriam Hospital.

Former chief minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon’s wife Puan Sri Chui Kah Peng said they donated RM350,000 to Bakti while the remainder were given to the charity organisations.

She said the decision to donate the money to Bakti and other organisations was decided by PBT members at their AGM on March 9, a day after the election results were announced.

“The members were notified on Feb 2 that the AGM would be held on March 2. However, it was postponed to March 9 due to the general election. Forty-five members attended the AGM,” Chui said.

She said they agreed to dissolve the association at the AGM.

“After in-depth discussions at the AGM, all members present decided that under the present circumstances, the association would not be able to carry out the objectives in the spirit in which it was founded,” Chui said in a press statement.

She said the members also unanimous decided to disband PBT at the meeting and the committee proceeded to submit the relevant documents to the Registrar of Societies.

Lim and Ooi ‘have no courage for open debate’

PENANG: The 48-hour deadline has passed and former Pertubuhan Bunga Tanjung (PBT) members are saying Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and his chief of staff Jeff Ooi have no courage to debate the matter pertaining to the association for the wives of state assemblymen and MPs.

“Lim has no courage to debate openly with PBT members,” PBT past president Puan Sri Chui Kah Peng said in a press statement.

“We are very disappointed Lim has refused to accept our challenge to defend ourselves and to let him justify his allegations,” she said.

Chui said in view of the rejection and failure by both DAP politicians to respond, “we will continue to take appropriate measures to defend our integrity and dignity.”....

Check out this youtube video -
Did Mdm Chui said the demeaning words insulting the housewives ?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dz7B5EPAW_8

I think she said this - We are not JUST housewives, we are professionals...

As such, she have been misquoted in the SUN, page 21, Mar 5 2008 article.

Here is another interesting view on PBT - http://minorityview.wordpress.com

You judge by yourself after going through the video and also the view at the link above.

What she said is this - We are not just housewives, a lot of us are professionals...we hold jobs.....we also have our responsibilities and duties .... our times are also precious.

The writer in Sun newspaper twisted her words.
