Know How To Dig, Don't Know How To Close

An old man complaint to me that this hole had been left unattended for nearly 2 weeks by MPPP.

I make a called to the local Pakat YB in a firm voice, and ask why it takes 2 weeks to fill a hole, he was somewhat shaken and promise to get the hole fill up tomorrow. The residents said that they will let me know if the YB still can't get it done.

A resident said, "Ku cheng hu, or kam or kam. Si cheng hu, a yau or bay yau kam' (Previous government, dig & close, dig & close. New government knows how to dig, but don't know how to close.).

Eh Kooniama,

I heard that is a federal govt project, so tell Koh Tsu Koon ur pengecut leader or what Keng yaik says beggar to ask federal govt to close. JKR comes under Kementerian Kerja Raya, so kooniama anak suntat remember go ask ur 2 or so Gerakan MPs to raise it with ur boss (UMNO Works Minister). If DAP wins federal govt than we can uruskan, unless some nice DAP adun use their own money, unlike Gerakan steal money from poor chinese and give it to UMNO.

All are under Federal. Then, what is the point of having DAP/PKR-led government in Penang?

They cannot handle this?

kooniama, if this is the standard of Pakatan Rakyat members and supporters, I will ask all my family and friend NOT TO VOTE them next time. Check carefully before commenting. Don't comment so vulgar, you are a disgrace to Indian.

For your information, I have told the local residents that I will re-seal the road FOC for them if the DAP-led government don't do it by these few days.

It is my own money if I have to do it. When did we steal money from the poor. Most Gerakan members are working class people, do not simply generalize with proof - give clear evidence.

Clearly both BN and PR led govs in Penang are not perfect.

If BN gov so perfect they wouldn't have lost so badly. Besides, many times after "closing" holes dug, it is not tarred properly and uneven. We don't want this also.

PR gov still so new not even 3 months. In work also not yet get confirmation la. The gov machinery for PR just set up, not yet optimised.

H'ng,

I don't think it's right to re-seal the hole yourself even if you use your own money just because some residents don't like it. Why was the hole dug? There has to be a reason why MPPP did it. As long as the hole is properly barricaded for safety (I can see MPPP barricades in the pic) it would be illegal for you to do that as you would be sabotaging MPPP's work.

I think the right way is to send complains to MPPP and let them handle it.

H'ng Khoon Leng said...

Yes, I agree with you.

The word "re-seal" is not appropriate. What I was thinking is to cover it up with some sand temporarily for safety reason.

No one know why the hole was dug up, even the YB seem unaware. Some residents said probably the wrong place was dug.

Other DAP workers(councillors?) had been there to look see and disappeared.

Yes, BN government is not perfect. I just want to show that Pakatan Rakyat is also not perfect, may be 'worse'. Time will tells.

Now, Pakatan Rakyat govt. knows to talk is easy, to do is a different ball game.

LGE said, he will cane his people if they do not do their work. He should bring out his cane.

Yes, time will tell so give DAP/PKR time to settle down.

The people will know how to judge them in the next GE.

Putih Hitam Kelabu has become a must read for all local Pakatan Rakyat's YBs. This is a good sign.

However, I have also noticed a rather disturbing trend. Some commentators have abused the privileges given by the host (HKL) by hurling unnecessary and unwarranted words. By this, I am referring to supporters from both political divide.

Be frank and hold no punch in your view but please be courteous at all time to all, including your tsrangest dissents. Respect and support are to be earned.

Sorry, some selling mistake. In my previous comment it should read: "...including your strongest dissents...:

I am a former Gerakan member with Seri Delima branch and I must agree we didnt do much work because of constant intervention by UMNO supported contractors. Now I have quit and joined DAP and things are better, you cannot take one photo here and there and make it a big issue. I will tell you honestly there are less portholes in general now compared to 6 months ago, and with more time(councillors sweared in only a month ago) there will be much more progress since no more UMNO contractors to kacau. All gerakan people, dont let UMNO bully you, join DAP.

H'ng Khoon Leng said...

Another person claiming to be a former Gerakan, please let me know your membership number.

You are again a PENIPU!!!!

We do not have Seri Delima branch, may be MCA.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pakatan Rakyat is full of PENIPU.

(Refer to the previous topic) Thanks to NIKO for a comprehensive report about the various approaches of DAP... abt the MB in Perak.

If they or the Sultan require a Malay to be the MB in Perak, then DAP may consider appoint a Malay-DAP ADUN to sit on the chair, as you all have got the majority seats.

DAP doesn't have any Malay ADUN? If NO, then how to convince the rest to accept DAP as a Multiracial party???

I know DAP depends very much on Chinese votes, but I would suggest to DAP to change the habitual way of thinking on racial. As long as she/he is good, sincere and capable, then we shouldn't care whether chinese, indian or malay, who be the MB/CM... cause we're all Malaysians. This is... the ideology of Kelab Anak Malaysia Tanjung... (Sorry for getting FREE ads here).

Through the various dialogues, I'm glad to note that Dr Koh & the gang are already AWAKE, cause the party (Gerakan) is taking positive steps to improve and develop on this concept.

We need a truth Malaysian's country!!!

Singapore = Singaporean (whether malay/chinese/indian)...

America = American (whether black/white)...

Australia = Australian...

And many others.

SORRY FOR TALKING TOO MUCH...

asian-fellow,

I disagree with you on DAP not being multiracial. They have chinese, indian and sikh ADUN and MP and also holding positions in DAP. That's more than one race so it is multiracial. Multiracial does not mean must have malay.

In Perak's case it is the state constitution and the sultan that prevented Perak from have a DAP MB and not because DAP Perak lacks good, sincere and capable representatives. Malaysia is very unique, in fact I think we are in the Guiness book of records for having the most monarchs in a single country. And because of these monarch's power, it is not necessarily the people's choice that get to be MB. Terengganu and Perlis are examples where the party with the most state seats did not get their choice and have to adhere to the sultan's choice.

Many political parties in Malaysia that are open to all races, like to be called multi-racial.

I think at this point in time none are really multi-racial.

Why?

Some are bi-racial, some are tri-racial but none are yet multi-racial.

Malaysians in the Peninsular tend to forget that Sabahans and Sarawakians are our brothers and fellow Malaysians.

I think, one of the criteria(there are many other criteria) of a Malaysian multi-racial party is that it needs to have Sabah & Sarawak ethnic leaders not just members. Not just Malay, Chinese and Indian.

Gerakan Youth was against the suggested merging of MCA with Gerakan. I think it would had supported any Sabah or Sarawak party to merge with us. I did voiced this out in the Penang Gerakan SDC a few years ago. However, having said that, it easy said than done.

There are many other criteria that need to be fulfilled.

One of the reason, Gerakan top leaders used the term "non-racial" rather than "multi-racial" is because the leaders know that Gerakan have a long way to go before it become a really multi-racial party.

It is my humble opinion, not a single party in Malaysia qualified to be called a multi-racial party.

Special note:

We are digressing from the topic of this post. However, some indulgence is OK, not to much-lah.

asian-fellow said...

fishhook,

You might have mis-understood my comments earlier...

Yes, DAP may be a multiracial political party in principle, but may be in reality but to certain extend or till a specified distance. Multiracial is meant consisting of or relating to people of many races, including malay, indian & chinese.

If we ask DAP, do you have a chinese ADUN/MP - Yes; How about Indian ADUN/MP - Yes; Then how about Malay ADUN/MP - eh... not at the moment.

So, do you think they're a truth multiracial party? The answer may be Yes or No... Otherwise, they would have proposed a Malay ADUN to the Sultan and wouldn't have given away the post to other...

A truth Multiracial is expected to be consisted of ALL MALAYSIANS. The basic requirement you must possess, is to have indian, chinese & malay at all levels.

Yes, some indians are holding positions, but do they have a truth power in the party? Although Kapal Singh is the National President... but I think Lim's family is more powerful in terms of appointments... don't you agree? So, DAP is anyhow seen as a chinese based party. You may disagree... but that's your choice. I, of course, respect...

In Terengganu and Perlis, the stories are different... Do you know the actual situation in both states? For example in Terengganu, do you know the story of a "mosque"...? Of course, nice stories might have been reported in the papers, but the actual ones??? Otherwise, the relevant Sultan/Raja wouldn't interfere...

Anyway, let's focus on Penang for the time being...
